What we publish

Four things, mostly. Long-form profiles of the people who make the work, including the ones whose names do not go above the title. Reported features on how the machinery runs, from greenlights and financing to distribution and awards campaigns. Interviews, conducted at length and edited for sense rather than for quotes. And annual lists, which we treat as reporting rather than as traffic.

Our sections are Hollywood, Awards, Culture, Style, Society, Profiles and Video. The dividing lines matter less than the approach: we would rather explain one deal properly than repackage twenty.

What we do not do

We do not run gossip, we do not cover anyone's private life as though it were public business, and we do not publish speculation dressed as fact. We do not republish other outlets' articles or run machine-rewritten versions of them. When we build on someone else's reporting, we credit it and link to it.

Who it is for

People who work in the industry and want to read something that does not flatter them, and people outside it who are tired of coverage that stops at the red carpet. If you have ever finished a piece about a film and still had no idea who paid for it, this is for you.

How we fund it

Advertising, and clearly labelled paid features. Every commissioned article carries a visible Paid feature label above the headline, and paid coverage never buys a verdict.
